Background Story
Annatarian by Anna Leighton stands at the intersection of fashion, technology, and sustainability. A graduate of Otis College of Art and Design, Annatarian’s journey in the fashion industry has taken her around the globe, designing and producing a diverse range of clothing, accessories, textiles, and graphics.
Annatarian is best known for her eco-couture dress collection and jewelry line called PeaceLoveEarth and has been featured at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum, The Chicago Nature Museum, the Sundance Film Festival, and at The Grand Performances with Al Gore. She’s created work for esteemed organizations like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Care International, The Chopra Foundation and many more. Annatarian has also appeared on The View, The Style Network, and has been worn by celebrities on the red carpet, including the Oscars.
She uses VR, AR, AI, and digital painting in her work and believes in the immense potential for technology to drive environmental sustainability in fashion and as well as a offering great tools for artists to express their creativity.
In 2021 she co-founded an NFT collection called “Holey People: Find the Gold In Your Wound”, a project which is continuously pushing boundries. Her NFT art has been featured at Superchief NYC, Musée des Identités Digitales, NFT Factory for NFTParis, Uptopian Muse in Spacial, Decentralland MVFW, WXw3 Women And Non-Binary Exhibition in Los Angeles, California and at Future Shape 360 in Denver Colorado.
She created an ongoing public Augmented Reality exhibit experience for the City of Los Angeles at the iconic Angel’s Flight in Downtown LA called “Angels of LA”, as part of Grand Avenue Augmented.
In 2023 Annatarian was recognized among the top ten at AI Fashion Week.
Anna's mission is to champion peace, love, and understanding through fashion, art, and beauty. Her IRL designs, often crafted from vintage and organic materials, embody the principles of Eco-Effective design. This philosophy emphasizes environmental replenishment, positive impact, and zero-waste creation. Anna's unique approach, like merging a vintage kimono with a muu muu or juxtaposing fabrics from historically conflicted cultures, results in garments that are not just fashion statements but poignant commentaries on unity and transformation.
